Take the Zero Debris Challenge
Did you know that according to the ESA, there are currently 29,000 pieces of space debris larger than 10cm, 670,000 larger than 1cm, and an estimated more than 170 million objects larger than 1 mm that are too small to be tracked in space?
An object as small as 1cm could penetrate the shields of the International Space Station, and a 1mm object could destroy subsystems on a spacecraft.
Space debris mitigation is going to become more important over time, and that’s why we invite you to take the Zero Debris Challenge.
THE RULES
Keep your satellite in the blue orbit while avoiding incoming space debris to gain points - be careful! Your orbit will get smaller over time, and debris will come at you faster as time progresses.
Keep your satellite charged by popping into the sun beam as needed. You will see your energy tracker indicated as a bar on the upper right.
Your Mission: Survive the full 5 minutes without your satellite being hit by debris while gaining the most points.
Zero Debris Challenge
